Listing your data through an AI assistant
If you have connected Brief to Claude or ChatGPT, you can ask the assistant to list your records and write them out wherever you want them. Ask for every open commitment, or for your decisions from the last quarter, and have it put the result into a file or a spreadsheet. Your decisions, commitments, tasks, open questions, contacts, meetings, and connected messages can all be listed this way. Two things to know. This reaches your own account and nobody else's, so on a team each person lists their own. And the assistant sees only the categories covered by the approval you gave when you connected. The Brief approval screen lists those categories by name, and you approve the list as a whole. A category outside it comes back empty rather than refused, so nothing on screen tells you it was skipped. If something looks missing, reconnect and read that list before you conclude Brief has no record of it.
Deleting your account
If you ever want to leave, your data leaves with you. To start it, see Delete your account and data.
Account deletion in Brief is permanent. When you confirm deletion:
- Your database record is removed.
- The deletion cascades from it: connections, briefings, messages, derived metadata, and the encryption key tied to your account.
- Files in cloud storage are purged in a follow-on cleanup, typically within minutes.
Deletion is not an archive or a deactivation. Copies held in database backups, and a narrow set of operational records, clear on their own rotation schedules rather than at the moment you confirm. The Privacy Notice carries the retention table and the deletion mechanics.
If you delete your account, your originals in Gmail, Outlook, Google Calendar, Microsoft Calendar, Google Chat, Zoom, and elsewhere are unaffected. Brief never owned them. Brief holds an encrypted view of them, and deletion removes it.
