Your first 24 hours
By tomorrow morning, Brief knows what you decided, what you promised, and who is waiting on you.
Here is your first day with Brief, hour by hour: what it does on its own, the few things worth doing yourself, and where to go when you want more.
01Minute one
Sign in once. That is the whole setup.
Use the Google Workspace or Microsoft 365 account your work already runs on. One permission lets Brief read your mail, your calendar and your contacts. There is no password to create, nothing to install and no connector to wire up before it starts.
If your company restricts third-party apps, your admin may need to approve Brief first. The articles below say exactly what to send them.
02The first few hours
Brief reads your last month and builds your Knowledge Graph.
The moment you sign in, Brief starts reading the last 30 days of your mail, and your calendar from a month back to a month ahead. Out of it comes your Knowledge Graph: the people you work with, the decisions you made, the commitments you and others owe, the questions still open and the meetings coming up, all connected to each other. The first read takes a few hours, and the graph keeps filling in as new mail arrives.
You do not have to wait and watch. Take the two-minute tour that starts when you open the app, then spend five minutes in Settings. Set your timezone and briefing time. Under Manage calendars, choose which calendars count. Under Addresses you also use, confirm the other addresses you send from. Those last two make the graph sharper.
03Once it has read
Ask what is waiting on you. It already knows.
There is nothing to paste and nothing to explain. Brief already has your mail, your calendar and your people, so you can ask about your week in plain words, in the app or out loud.
Try one of these. Each opens Brief with the question already asked.
04Your first day
Bring in the rest of your work.
Decisions do not stay in email. They get made in a Slack thread and promised in a WhatsApp message. Connect the places your work actually happens and Brief follows the thread across all of them. Each one takes a minute or two, from Settings, Connections.
- WhatsAppScan a QR code and Brief is in your pocket. Get your brief there, ask before you walk into a meeting, or dictate what you just agreed.
- SlackBrief reads the channels, DMs and threads you are in. DM Brief to ask anything, and have your daily brief land in Slack.
- A second Google or Microsoft accountOne connection brings in its mail, calendar, contacts and tasks, plus Teams chats on Microsoft.
- Your task managerSend the tasks Brief finds to Todoist, Google Tasks, Microsoft To Do or Slack Lists.
05Tomorrow, 6:00 AM
Your first daily brief lands before your day starts.
At 6:00 AM in your timezone, unless you picked another time, your first daily brief arrives in your inbox. It leads with what needs you: the decisions waiting on you, the commitments coming due, the questions still open and what each meeting today needs from you. Every item is a link straight into Brief.
Once Brief finishes its first read, a first brief appears in the app too. If anything looks wrong, reply to the brief. It reaches the team.
06Make it yours
Have it arrive when, where and how you want it.
All of this lives in Settings, Briefing & Actions and Privacy & Security, and none of it takes long.
- WhenPick the half hour you actually have room to read, which days the email comes, and your timezone.
- WhereEmail, Today in the app, WhatsApp or a Slack DM. Use one, or all of them.
- How it readsChoose what each brief includes, separately for the app and the email. Or turn on Read my brief aloud and pick the voice, the speed and the length.
- What stays outLeave out mail from people you have never written to or met, and exclude the notification senders that are never a decision.
- What Brief may doBy default Brief sends nothing you have not approved. Choose, area by area, what it may do for you and what it asks about first.
07After day one
Then hand it the standing questions.
Once Brief knows your world, it can do more than tell you about it.
- AgentsA question Brief answers on a schedule, before a meeting, or when a message arrives.
- Brief in Claude or ChatGPTConnect Brief to the assistant you already use and ask it about your work.
- From brief to delegated workTurn the morning brief into a focus list and hand it to a teammate.
- Invite your teamSend invitations from Settings, Plan. Each colleague gets a private account of their own.
Your first brief is already on its way.
